Bird's Co-Sponsored Bill to Increase Penalties for Human Trafficking Passes
Representative Bird co-sponsored legislation that passed through the Ohio House on Wednesday that increases criminal penalties for human trafficking, kidnapping and abduction.
The Human Trafficking Prevention Act expands penalties for human trafficking from 10-15 years in prison to a minimum of 15 years. This legislation will also provide protections for victims who are under the age of 18 or developmentally disabled by increasing sentences to 25 years to life in prison.
House Bill 47 will now head to the Ohio Senate for further consideration.
Statehouse Prayer Event
Representative Bird joined faith leaders and fellow legislators at the Statehouse Prayer Rally this week where he provided a prayer and remarks.
Network for Hope
Representative Bird met with Network for Hope at the Statehouse to discuss their efforts to encourage Ohioans to be organ donors for those in need. The organization facilitates and encourages the donation of human organs and tissues for transplantation.
