An Update from State Representative Gary Click
Dear Fellow Ohioans and Friends,
Chairman Gary Click led the charge in unanimously passing Senator Bill Reineke's Senate Bill 147 out of the House Community Revitalization Committee this week.
Senate Bill 147 creates a pathway for Seneca County to withdraw from the OSS Solid Waste District and form a new solid waste district, granting them greater agility in responding to issues related to the Sunny Farms Landfill. Additionally, it authorizes them to impose fees for construction and demolition debris commensurate with the fees for solid waste.
The Ohio House is expected to vote on Amended SB 147 soon. It would then head back to the Ohio Senate for a concurrence vote before heading to the Governor's desk for a signature.
This is a major milestone for Seneca County, ensuring that the Seneca County Health District and Commissioners are empowered to best represent the citizens of Seneca County. The passage of SB 147 is the result of Representative Click's collaboration with the Seneca County Commissioners and Senator Bill Reineke.
Keith's Law
In other news, after passing through the Ohio House, Keith's Law (HB 144) has been referred to the Senate Armed Services, Veterans Affairs and Public Safety Committee.
House Bill 144, sponsored by Reps. Click and Brian Lorenz, will establish a voluntary statewide database for special needs individuals to share relevant and vital information with first responders in advance of a crisis. This information will be shared with each county 9-1-1 system which will be required to provide appropriate information to first responders when dispatched to provide services, ensuring responders are best prepared to provide potentially life-saving assistance to the person in need.
We look forward to advocating for this good bill in the Senate soon.
