An Update from State Representative Gary Click
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
This week Representative Click had the opportunity to offer sponsor testimony for H.B 162 - My Child-My Chart. This piece of legislation aims to protect the rights of parents to be able to access their child’s medical charts. Families of District 88 have been outraged to find out that their child, as young as 12 years old, must sign off for the parents to have access to their child’s medical charts and records. Through this legislation, Rep. Click will protect the interests of District 88, and the people who call it home.
If you or any of your loved ones have experienced the situation above and would like to provide in-person or written testimony, please email janae.myers@ohiohouse.gov.
Representative Click also gave sponsor testimony for H.B. 252. This bill would redefine burglary so that those who break the law may not escape justice. The Ohio Revised Code currently has legalities that allow offenders to evade justice and punishment if they act in ways that do not constitute stealth, force or deception. This bill will redefine burglary so that those who steal may not escape justice, even if “force, stealth, or deception” were not used in the act of burglary.
In other news, Senate Bill 21 was introduced to the House floor this week. This bill will name October 4th as “Rutherford B. Hayes Day." Representative Click had a “dispute” with Representative Beth Lear over the important issue of what county President Rutherford B. Hayes belongs to. In the end, both Representatives agree that the legacy President Hayes left is big enough to share.
