An Update from State Representative Gary Click
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
This past week has been one of busyness and rewarding work for Representative Gary Click as he continues to serve our community and champion the interests of District 88.

Representative Click met with individuals who gave proponent testimony for House Bill 144—Keith’s Law, in the Community Revitalization Committee. This bill proposes the creation of a 9-1-1 database to assist first responders in identifying and appropriately responding to individuals with special needs. The goal is to ensure these calls are met with greater understanding and compassionate care.
Those who testified in support of the bill shared deeply personal stories. Each person highlighted how their experiences could have been drastically different had this law been in place. In some cases, lives might have been saved, misunderstandings avoided, and situations peacefully deescalated. These testimonies painted a vivid picture of the real-life challenges faced by families of individuals with special needs.
Representative Click believes this bill is not only vital for equipping our first responders but also has the potential to save lives and build stronger trust between the public and our law enforcement community.
Within this same committee, Rep. Click heard sponsor testimony for his H.B. 222- the Landfill Bill. Seneca County has been facing misuse and abuse from Sunny Farms landfill, and Representative Click plans to remedy this situation. Through H.B. 222 - the Seneca County will be represented and respected in SWMD and be able to act as any other county within this agreement. This bill will establish that Seneca may withdraw from SWMD regardless of whether there is agreement from all counties.
The Representative believes that no one should struggle with 'Trashification without Representation'. H.B. 222 will protect the interests of Seneca, and the overall well-being of District 88.
