House Resolution to Bring 2030 Special Olympics USA Games to Cleveland
Representatives Bird and Brewer recently introduced a resolution in support of the 2030 Special Olympics USA Games being held in Cleveland.
This sports event would host over 5,500 athletes and coaches from across the nation for eight days of programs focused on athlete and family wellness. Cleveland is one of two finalist cities that the Special Olympics Bid Evaluation Committee is considering. Special Olympics USA Games are hosted every four years in major cities in America. Not only would the event bring an estimated $70 million to the local economy, but it would be the largest inclusive sports event in Cleveland’s history.
This effort is led by the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and supported by both Governor DeWine and Special Olympics Ohio.
Rep. Bird had the honor of welcoming a few Special Olympians to session recently to recognize them for their great achievements.
