January Community Update

KYHV

As central Ohio continues to dig out from a record-breaking snowstorm, your Franklin County Auditor’s office continues work on the Triennial Property Value Update, a state-required process that updates values for every property in the county.

As part of the process the Auditor’s office has launched the 2026 Know Your Home Value website, a one-stop shop website that features detailed information on the Triennial Update. The new website shows the timelines of the Triennial Update, a printable PDF Triennial Guide, options available to homeowners who disagree with their newly assigned property value (which will be available in June), and answers to frequently asked questions. More features and functions will be added to the site in the coming months.

The goal is to make the Triennial Property Value Update easy to understand and to ensure owners have a voice in the process.

In March the updated property values will be sent to the Ohio Department of Taxation for review. Once they have been approved, property values will be available to property owners online and mailed to them in June 2026.

If an owner disagrees with the tentative value, they will be able to schedule a Property Value Review session with Auditor’s office appraisal representatives from July through September via the Know Your Home Value website. Property values will be finalized in December. Stay warm, and enjoy the winter landscape!

Last Call for Reduced-Rate Dog Licenses

February is the last month of dog license season when reduced-rate licenses may be purchased.

Licenses may be purchased at the reduced rate through February 28. This year, the deadline has been extended by a month to provide dog owners more time to purchase their dog's license.

Licenses may be purchased online at doglicense.franklincountyohio.gov, or at the Auditor’s office license counter, 373 S. High St., 21st Floor in downtown Columbus. The counter is open Monday through Friday, from 8 am to 4 pm.

Owners can purchase or renew licenses, change addresses, download forms and update dog information via the online licensing system.

In addition to being required by state law, dog licensing ensures that any lost dog is returned quickly to their owners. License fees support the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center.
