Consumer Alert: Credit Card Skimmers Found at Whitehall UDF Stores

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Following reports that Whitehall police found credit card skimmers inside two UDF stores, customers are urged to check their bills for any fraudulent charges.

According to police reports, skimmers were found on payment terminals inside UDF stores located at 4374 E. Broad St. and 4890 E. Main St. in Whitehall. No devices were found on the gas pumps.

Auditor’s office Weights and Measures inspectors routinely check for skimmers on credit card readers at gas pumps across the county, outside the city of Columbus. Payment terminals that are not on gas pumps are not within the purview of Weights and Measures.

“The Auditor’s office will remain vigilant during this holiday season in protecting consumers from fraud,” Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano said. “We encourage consumers to be proactive and report any activity they deem suspicious to Auditor’s office inspectors at (614) 525-7380 or to local law enforcement.”

Anyone who believes they have been affected by this situation is urged to contact Whitehall Police Detective Kubinski at (614) 246-7422.
