June Community Update

laptop maintainence

Your Franklin County Auditor’s office is committed to the use of advanced and innovative technology that ensures outstanding service for the residents and businesses of Franklin County.

As part of that mission, the office is upgrading and modernizing the software that provides the backbone of our real estate record keeping systems. This new software will be highly efficient, secure, and ensure future interoperability with other government agencies. It will provide effective data solutions for the office far into the years to come.

While the transition to the new software system occurs, your Auditor’s office website will continue to be operable, but you might notice that some parts of the site are operating at a slower pace. For a brief period there also may be some temporary down time in different areas while maintenance occurs and data is migrated. Any necessary updates will be posted on the individual office webpages.

The planned data system upgrade will be rolled out in phases, with the first phase beginning in the evening of Wednesday, July 15. We anticipate this first phase will last approximately five days (through Monday).  During this phase, transactions that involve entering data into the system will be suspended but will resume immediately following the update. We recommend planning to complete any time-sensitive transactions or searches before the transition begins on July 15. Be assured we will be working diligently during this time to efficiently and expeditiously complete this upgrade.

Your Auditor’s office is dedicated to using the very best technology to serve our community, and we look forward to continued innovations in the future to guarantee superior services for Franklin County.

Take Care of your Canine Pal this Independence Day

Central Ohio is enduring its first heatwave of the season, and as Franklin County’s licensor of dogs the Auditor’s office is offering tips to keep our canine friends safe this July 4 holiday.

First, prepare for Independence Day fireworks which might scare your pet. This year Red, White & BOOM! will be held July 3 in Downtown Columbus, and numerous other celebrations will be held in communities across Franklin County.

If you’re going to walk your dog, plan to do it well before or after the fireworks display. Make sure your dog is licensed so if they do become lost or instinctually bolt because of the fireworks, they can be returned to you quickly. Dog licenses can always be purchased online at https://doglicense.franklincountyohio.gov/ or in person at the Auditor’s office Licensing Counter, 373 S. High St., 21st floor, Columbus.

Remember that asphalt and pavement can get hot enough to burn a dog’s paws. Consider walking them on the grass. Make sure your pet has access to water, and you can also spray them down with water to cool them down.

Keep your dog leashed and close when in crowds and/or during times where it may be noisy. If they need to be comforted while indoors, consider playing white noise for them. And of course, never leave a dog or any animal in a hot car.

Have a happy July 4 celebration!
