Spring is finally arriving in central Ohio, and soon people will be visiting farmer’s markets and driving across the country on spring and summer vacations. In Franklin County, your Auditor’s office will be out in the community protecting consumers by checking scales, gas pumps and scanners to ensure customers are getting what they pay for and are protected from fraud.
There are more than 10 famer's markets in our county (outside the city of Columbus, which has its own weights and measures section), and at each one Auditor’s office Weights and Measures inspectors will examine and verify the scales and scanners used to measure their high-quality produce.
At gas stations, not only will inspectors verify that pumps are dispensing the correct amount of fuel, they will also check credit card readers for skimmers. All pumps and readers that have been checked will display a sticker showing they have been inspected.
Warmer temperatures mean people will be out and about, shopping and traveling, and your Auditor’s office will remain vigilant in its duty to protect consumers from fraud.

This Primary Season, Know the Value of Your Vote
Early and absentee voting for this year’s primary election begins April 8, and your Auditor’s office wants to let voters Know the Value of Your Vote.
There are 13 levies and bond issues on the ballot in municipalities across Franklin County that could affect how much residents pay in property taxes; none of the levies or bond issues are county-wide.
To help voters understand the impact of those levies, the Franklin County Auditor’s office has updated the Ballot Levy Estimator tool on the office’s website, which will enable homeowners to see how a levy or bond issue would affect their property taxes should it pass in the May election.
To use it, visit apps.franklincountyauditor.com/LevyEstimator and enter your address or your parcel number. After April 8, the estimator will show all the levies that will be on the ballot for your location and the impact they will have on your taxes should they be approved by voters on election day, Tuesday, May 6.
Residents who have a levy on their ballot will receive a postcard with more information on using the ballot levy estimator during the second week of April.
