Property eAlert System to Prevent Title Theft Major Success

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Since the conception of the Property eAlert system in 2021, over 15,000 Franklin County residents have registered, and 5,263 alerts have been sent.

The Property E-alert system is just one tool in an extremely effective multi-layered process offered by the Franklin County Auditor’s office that helps protect Franklin County residents against threats of title theft and fraud.

The Property eAlerts notification system is incorporated with office’s real estate record database and provides registered homeowners with immediate notice of a change in their property’s ownership or value. The system is free to all Franklin county residents and can be easily accessed through the Auditor’s website at franklincountyauditor.com

“The Property eAlerts system is a simple way to protect homeowners and give them peace of mind about the security of one of their most valuable assets,” Stinziano said.

Additionally, all property transfers are processed by the Auditor’s office with a requirement of notarization. The office also offers a Fraud Hotline, 614-525-SCAM, which can be utilized by anyone suspecting they have been a victim of fraud.

The Auditor’s office is dedicated to ensuring that all Franklin County residents are protected against threats of fraud and are provided with the quickest information to combat any attempts at title theft to their property as part of an ongoing commitment to consumer protection.
