Big Increases in Median Home Sale Price Continue in September, Dashboard Data Shows
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The median sale price of homes in Franklin County rose 20 percent in September compared to the same month last year, according to recently released data from the Real Estate Sales Dashboard.
The new data shows the September median home sale price increased 20 percent to $245,155 compared to September 2020. However, the total sales amount of homes in Franklin County decreased 15 percent to $526.3 million, and the overall number of sales also decreased by 636 to 1,915.
The rise in median sale price continued a trend: in August, dashboard data showed median sale prices had increased 19 percent, and July data showed a 17 percent increase.
“Prices continue to rise in Franklin County, which is good for homeowners, even as the market shows signs of cooling down,” said Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano.
The Real Estate Dashboard is a highly localized web app that shows recent home sales on a GIS map. The tool can display sales data by municipality, school district, or area commission, giving homeowners a better sense of sales activity in their neighborhoods.
September sales by the numbers:
- 1,915 total sales
- $245,155 median sale price
- $526.3 million in total sales
The dashboard is optimized for both desktop computers and mobile devices, and continues to be updated monthly.
