Home Sales, Price Continue to Increase, March Real Estate Sales Dashboard Shows
COLUMBUS, Ohio – New March data from the Real Estate Sales Dashboard shows the amount of home sales, the median sale price and the total sales amount all increased compared to the same month in 2020, Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano announced Monday.
The updated dashboard data shows that the March total sales amount for Franklin County was $472 million, up $140.2 million compared to March 2020. In addition, the median sale price was $215,000, an increase of $30,000 compared to March 2020. The total number of sales in the county also grew to 1,921, an increase of 399 compared to March of last year.
“As we come to the one-year anniversary of the start of the pandemic, the Franklin County housing market continues to perform well. The substantial increases compared to a year ago reflect some of the economic impacts from the then-evolving pandemic in March 2020.”
The continued increases in sales and median price come as the March 31 deadline to file a complaint with the Franklin County Board of Revision has passed. The Board received approximately 3,858 filings for the 2020 tax year. That compares with 2,223 filed for tax year 2019, 2,430 for tax year 2018, and 7,682 in tax year 2017, which was the last time the Auditor’s office performed a sexennial reappraisal.
"Over 20% of taxpayer complaints were filed electronically with the 2021 introduction of an E-File option, furthering the commitment to use technology to make your Auditor's office more accessible to Franklin County residents," Stinziano said.
The Real Estate Dashboard is a highly localized web app that shows recent home sales on a GIS map. The tool can display sales data by municipality, school district, or area commission, giving homeowners a better sense of sales activity in their neighborhoods.
The dashboard is optimized for both desktop computers and mobile devices, and continues to be updated monthly.
