Home Sales, Price Continue to Increase, January Real Estate Sales Dashboard Shows
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Updated January data from the Real Estate Sales Dashboard shows the amount of home sales, the median sale price and the total sales amount all increased across the board compared to the same month in 2020, Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano announced Thursday.
The new dashboard data shows that the January total sales amount for Franklin County was $361.9 million, up $70.2 million compared to January 2020. Meanwhile, the median sale price was $199,900, an increase of $21,400 compared to January 2020. The total number of sales in the county also grew to 1,565, an increase of 143 compared to January of last year.
“The Franklin County housing market just continues to roll on in the new year with robust increases,” Auditor Stinziano said. “Franklin County continues to be one of the hottest markets in the country.”
The increases continue a trend: compared to the same month in 2019, the December 2020 total sales amount increased 35 percent to $595.3 million, while total number of sales increased by 424 to 2,436. The December median sale price also increased to $213,000, up 15 percent compared to December 2019.
The continued rises in sales and median price comes as the Auditor’s office has completed the Triennial Update and homeowners who disagree with their property value can now file a challenge with the Franklin County Board of Revision (BOR).
To increase accessibility to the complaint process for lower- and middle-income homeowners, the Board has launched the new Pro Bono Assistance Program, which offers free help in navigating the BOR complaint process for those who qualify.
The BOR has also introduced a new e-filing option to make the process more convenient and efficient for property owners. To e-file with the BOR, simply visit the board’s website at www.franklincountyauditor.com/real-estate/board-of-revision. The deadline to file a complaint with the BOR is March 31, 2021.
The dashboard is optimized for both desktop computers and mobile devices, and continues to be updated monthly.
