Auditor Stinziano Auctions off Forfeited Properties; Gives New Owners Fresh Start
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Franklin County Auditor Michael Stinziano held a public auction Tuesday that led to the sale of nine properties that had been forfeited to the state because of the failure to pay real estate taxes.
The Auction, which is held annually, featured properties from around the county and had multiple bidders.
“I want to congratulate the winning bidders,” said Auditor Stinziano, who served as an auctioneer. “The Auditor’s Auction gives these new property owners a fresh start with these parcels and returns the properties to a positive tax roll that will benefit Franklin County residents.”
A listing of the properties that sold can be viewed on the Auditor’s office website. Bidders had to pay a $500 nonrefundable deposit on the property they bought, or if the parcel sold for less than $500, pay the full amount due on the property.
The Auditor’s office strongly recommends that each buyer contact a real estate attorney and/or title company before purchase, as all sales are “buyer-beware.”
