Commissioners' General Session Agenda for 03/22/2016
The Franklin County Board of Commissioners holds
its General Session meetings every Tuesday at 9:00am in the Franklin County
Government Office Tower at 373 South High Street, 26th Floor.
Highlighted below are some of the resolutions/contracts scheduled for
consideration at the upcoming meeting:
Partnering with Local Hospitals to Provide On-site Case Management The Franklin County
Department of Job and Family Services (FCDJFS) is requesting the commissioners
approve a $233,250 contract renewal with Mt. Carmel East, West and St. Ann’s hospitals
on Tuesday. This continued partnership will provide for one on-site case
manager per hospital to serve clients receiving healthcare and determine
patient eligibility for public assistance programs. This approach allows for
better quality service in a shorter timeframe for residents and creates an
easier one-stop approach to receiving healthcare and public assistance. In
exchange for providing on-site case management services, Mount Carmel will
reimburse FCDJFS monthly for the actual cost of the services provided. Investing in Tech Startups On Tuesday, the commissioners
are expected to approve $250,000 grant agreement with Rev1 Ventures for its Entrepreneurial
Signature Program, which provides coaching and mentoring services to start-up
tech companies in Franklin County in order to help them create jobs, sell
products, and understand commercialization and domain issues. Since 2007, with
funding from the Franklin County Commissioners, Rev1 Ventures (formerly known
as TechColumbus) has served more than 500 entrepreneurs and companies with an
average salary of $64,000, and increased sales tax revenues by an estimated
$168,750 per year. Working to End Violence Against Women Last week, the commissioners approved a resolution accepting the
county’s 2015 S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act grant of $540,895.25 from the
state and federal governments. This week, they are expected to approve
sub grant awards and contracts for services to provide victim services and
enhance law enforcement and prosecution using those funds. Awardees
include the City of Columbus Prosecutor’s Office, Ohio Health and Mt. Carmel,
Choices Domestic Violence Shelter, the Ohio Hispanic Coalition, the Franklin
County Court of Common Pleas, and the Sexual Assault Response Network of
Central Ohio, among others, and have been recommended by the Franklin County
Criminal Justice Planning Board. For the complete General
