Commissioners' General Session Agenda for 02/09/2016

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners holds its General Session meetings every Tuesday at 9:00am in the Franklin County Government Office Tower at 373 South High Street, 26th Floor. Highlighted below are some of the resolutions/contracts scheduled for consideration at the upcoming meeting:

DUI Task Force adds local partners
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office serves as the lead agency for the Countywide DUI Task Force. On Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office will request to add twelve additional jurisdictions, bringing the total task force membership to 23. New members include: Blendon, Clinton, Mifflin, Perry and Sharon townships; the cities of Dublin, Grove City, New Albany, and Whitehall; the Village of Obetz; the Columbus Regional Airport Authority; and The Ohio State University Police.

Commissioners’ Weekly Agenda 02/07/2016 through 02/13/2016

Franklin County Dog Shelter Town Hall Meeting On Pet Overpopulation (Saturday at noon)
The shelter made tremendous progress in 2015 improving the “live release rate” for unwanted dogs to 82%, and set all-time adoption records.  However, pet overpopulation continues to be a problem in our community, and a significant challenge to the shelter. Director Kaye Dickson will be hosting a town hall meeting, at the shelter (4340 Tamarack Blvd.) and open to the public, to discuss the ongoing problem of pet overpopulation and how it might be addressed.
 
New Community ArtWalk Installation to Highlight MLK, Black History Month (Tuesday at 10:30am)
Commissioner Marilyn Brown will be touring the Community ArtWalk exhibit space in the lobby of the Franklin County Courthouse Tower (373 S. High St.) as it’s adorned with new student artwork and essays inspired by or evoking the life’s work of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Tuesday morning. Pieces have been created by participants in the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education’s Art in the House program (for kids ages 5-11), and the Central Community House’s TRANSIT ARTS program (for youth ages 12-21+).
 
Columbus Chamber Annual Meeting (Thursday at 7am)
Commissioners John O’Grady, Paula Brooks and Marilyn Brown plan to attend the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Annual meeting on Thursday, February 11 at the Greater Columbus Convention Center (400 N. High St.).
 
Briefing Time Change (Thursday at 9:30am)
To accommodate attendance at the Columbus Chamber Annual Meeting, the Commissioners’ Briefing Meeting will be delayed until 9:30am.
 
Commissioner Brown to Address Government Leadership Seminar (Thursday at noon)
Commissioner Marilyn Brown will be addressing the Franklin County Domestic Relations and Juvenile Court’s Leadership In Government & Public Administration Speaker Series on Thursday at the Franklin County Judicial Services Building (369 S. High St., Room 3).  Her address is titled Integrity Matters, and is open to the public.
 
Holiday Closure (February 15, 2016)
Franklin County offices will be closed on Monday, February 15 in observance of Presidents’ Day.
