Health Works Franklin County
- The next quarterly Health Works Franklin County (HWFC) meeting will be held on September 17 at the Bob Crane Community Center in Upper Arlington.
- This meeting will focus on what priorities the committee has been working on over the past years.
- Every three years, FCPH creates a Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) with our jurisdiction partners by looking for guidance, feedback and alliance within the work we do together to continue to provide optimal health for our residences. HWFC will start planning for the next CHIP by reviewing and addressing the priorities identified by the latest health assessment, Health Map 2025.
- HWFC, the EAC and FCPH thank the Board of Commissioners for their continued support and commitment to public health.
- Visit the HWFC website for more information.

Activist & Agitators event
Join the Activists and Agitators 8th annual YWCA Columbus event dedicated to uniting the Columbus community and inspiring attendees to pursue greater social change together than we can achieve alone.
This event fosters dialogue, provides practical resources, and educates the community to promote empowerment and inclusion. We created Activists and Agitators with the belief that anyone and everyone can be an agent for social change. If we all commit to intentional, anti-racist, direct action and harm reduction, our collective impact will be profound. View the website for more information.

Brien Bellous, Plumbing & Medical Gas Inspection Supervisor
The Plumbing and Medical Gas inspection section ensures that new construction of buildings or portions of buildings comply with the minimum standards of Ohio Plumbing Code and NFPA 99 for HealthCare facilities.
Building codes are crucial for public safety, health, and welfare by establishing minimum standards for building design, construction, and maintenance. They ensure structures are safe to inhabit, protect against hazards like fire and natural disasters, and promote energy efficiency. Review the "What is The Purpose of Building Codes?" video.
The plumbing and medical gas section went live with Accela Automation in April of this year. View the website for more information on Accela and the FCPH Plumbing and Medical Gas Section. Thank you for funding from the Franklin County Board of Commissioners and County Administration for FCPH to adopt this new IT system for the plumbing and medical gas program!
FCPH staff perform plan reviews for plumbing and medical gas as well as inspections. In June and July of this year the team completed:
- 1,834 inspections performed
- 141 Plan reviews completed
Plumbing and Medical Gas regulation and enforcement are vital pieces of the Public Health puzzle by helping to provide safe and functional buildings where we live, work and play.
