Gov. DeWine signs HB 47 and SB 214 into law
-
Governor Mike DeWine recently signed two bills into law that will have long lasting, positive public health implications. House Bill 47 requires automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to be placed in every public and chartered nonpublic school in Ohio. The bill was co-sponsored by Rep. Richard Brown (Canal Winchester) and requires schools to train teachers, administrators, coaches, athletic trainers, and anyone else supervising student-athletes on how and when to use AEDs.
-
Barbara Freeman, a Peer Support Specialist (BHAS), here at FCPH was invited to join the Governor, alongside Senator Stephanie Kunze (Dublin), former Senator Teresa Fedor, advocates, and fellow human trafficking survivors, for the signing of Senate Bill 214. SB 214 allows victims of human trafficking to apply for record expungement if they are convicted of a misdemeanor, fourth-degree felony, or fifth-degree felony associated with human trafficking.

Franklin County Public Health is excited to announce that we are taking applications for free water bottle filling stations to give to community organizations with funding provided through the Ohio Department of Health. Applicants can include schools, government agencies, faith-based organizations and 501 c3s. These stations will help to reduce the risk of disease transmission through touchless bottle filling, will improve sustainability through reducing single plastic use and provide places for hydration throughout the county. Find more information here: https://myfcph.org/hands-free-water-bottle-filling-stations-available/
