What
Ohio EPA is seeking public comments about its proposed clean-up plan for Weaver Woodlands. Portions of Weaver Woodlands were impacted by leaks from a buried petroleum pipeline, installed in the 1940s and abandoned in the 1970s.
Why
Homes were constructed near the buried pipeline in the 1950s, and petroleum hydrocarbon compounds were detected in private drinking water wells on some properties in 1990. In 1991, Ohio EPA issued orders to investigate the contamination. This process led to orders to clean-up the contamination.
Impact
The Preferred Plan (clean-up plan) summarizes the investigation of contamination, provides an analysis of the feasibility and protectiveness of clean-up options, and outlines Ohio EPA’s preferred option for remediation or clean-up.
