Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness Recognizes Seven Finalists at the Annual Awards Ceremony
(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Ohio Committee for Severe Weather Awareness (OCSWA), in cooperation with the National Weather Service and the Ohio Emergency Management Agency (EMA), today announced the winners of the annual Severe Weather Awareness Poster Contest.
Open to all Ohio students in kindergarten through eighth grades, the contest serves as a valuable tool to help students learn about severe weather safety and preparedness. The students engage in this process through their illustrations of Ohio severe weather events (tornadoes, thunderstorms, flooding, etc.).
“We are always excited to see the poster submissions,” said Sima Merick, Executive Director of the Ohio EMA. “Severe weather can impact communities in a profound way, and this contest shows us how students can help spread the word about staying safe in severe weather through their artwork.”
