Deer Park Marching Wildcats Qualify for 31st Consecutive OMEA State Band Competition
The Deer Park High School Marching Wildcats have once again demonstrated their musical excellence, qualifying for the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) State Band Competition for the 31st consecutive year! This remarkable achievement was earned over the weekend at the Hamilton Band O Rama, where the Wildcats secured a 2nd place finish in Class B, solidifying their spot in the state competition.
The long-standing success of the Marching Wildcats is a testament to the dedication and leadership of Band Director Pat Bauer, who has helmed the band since 2019. Alongside him are Assistant Directors Joe Vetter, Brenda Livingston, McCartney Levier and Symon Jones, whose hard work and expertise have been instrumental in guiding the band to this incredible milestone.
"We are so proud of Mr. Bauer, our assistant directors, and every single member of the Marching Wildcats for their outstanding achievement," Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School Principal John Vander Meer said. "This success is the result of countless hours of practice, hard work, and dedication. I’d also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Band Sponsors and all of the parents who have supported the band every step of the way. Your unwavering commitment has been crucial to our program's continued excellence."
The Deer Park Band Sponsors, whose tireless efforts provide resources, fundraising, and logistical support, have played a crucial role in ensuring the band's continued success. Likewise, the families of the band members have been an invaluable source of encouragement, offering support through countless hours of practice, travel, and performance preparation.
The Marching Wildcats are not done yet! The band still has two "regular season" competitions left: the Canal Winchester/Wilmington Band Invitationals (2-in-1) on Saturday, Oct. 12, and the Turpin Band Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19. Details about the state band competition will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
Stay tuned for more updates on their journey to state!
