Band Closes Competition Season at OMEA
Marching Wildcats Earn Third Straight Superior Rating at OMEA State Competition
PIQUA, Ohio - In an astounding display of musical excellence and sheer determination, the Deer Park Marching Wildcats have achieved yet another incredible milestone that will be etched in the annals of school history. This year marks the 30th consecutive year that the Marching Wildcats have secured their place at the OMEA State Band Finals, an unprecedented feat for a school the size of Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School.
But the story doesn't end there. For the third consecutive year, the Marching Wildcats have reached new heights by earning a prestigious 1-Superior rating, OMEA's highest honor. This is a remarkable accomplishment on its own, but what makes it even more extraordinary is that it's the first time in program history it has occured in three straight years.
The 1-Superior rating at the state level is a testament to their unwavering dedication, immense talent, and outstanding performance. It places the Deer Park Marching Wildcats in the upper echelon of Ohio's marching bands, firmly securing their spot within the top ten percent of all programs across the state.
Their incredible performance took place amidst a driving rainstorm, a true testament to their dedication and passion for their craft. In addition to their overall 1-Superior rating, the Deer Park Marching Wildcats also received a clean Superior sweep in subcategory rankings from the judges:
- Music: 1-Superior rating
- General Effect: 1-Superior rating
- Visual: 1-Superior rating
- Marching: 1-Superior rating
- Percussion: 1-Superior rating
- Color Guard: 1-Superior rating
This remarkable journey and the accomplishments of the students in the marching band and color guard wouldn't have been possible without the guidance and leadership of our dedicated directors, as well as the unwavering support from Band Sponsors and the dedication of parent volunteers. This accolade is a testament to the strength of the Deer Park community and their commitment to nurturing young talent.
The celebration of this incredible achievement is far from over. The Deer Park Bands will be performing at their annual holiday concert on Tuesday, December 12th at 7:30 p.m. in Crawford Auditorium. This is an event not to be missed, as it will undoubtedly be a fitting tribute to the hard work, talent, and dedication that have carried this remarkable band to its 30th consecutive year at the OMEA State Band Finals.
