What's New?

A Message from the Principal

Hello Deer Park Families!

I hope everyone has been enjoying this amazing fall weather! With the calendar turning to October and the leaves changing it is a great reminder that our first quarter is coming to an end. October 13 is the final day. Make sure you are checking your students' Schoology page and teachers to see if your child has any missing work. Don’t forget students can stay after school or come in early on Thursday mornings. Please see the schedule below.

John Vander Meer
Principal
Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School

Building Spotlight

There are very few things that happen for 30 straight years. Think of everything that would have to fall in place for that to happen. But there are a few: The Simpsons have been on TV for 35 straight years, the New York Yankees have had 30 straight winning seasons. and The Deer Park Wildcat Marching Band and Color Guard have Qualified for the State Competition for 30 straight years. Talk about a winning tradition!!! We could not be more proud of our students and leaders that have kept that winning tradition going. In November this group of Wildcats will try and set a new record. Three straight years of receiving a rating of Superior at the state level. There are a lot of great things in The Park and our band and color guard are certainly one of them.

Staff Shoutout

taylor

Parent Submission: Senora Taylor has been my daughter’s teacher for 3 years now. Her passion and love for her job and the children shines through everyday! My daughter always comes home with a new Senora story. Senora’s kindness and passion for Spanish motivates my daughter and has given her a love for the Spanish language. Some days are hard and my daughter does not do as well as she expected, but Senora helps her to keep her head up, try again, and keep a positive outlook. Deer Park is VERY lucky to have a teacher like Jennifer Taylor teaching our children!

It's your turn to shout out a Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School staff member!

I would like to take a moment to express my appreciation to our amazing community for their continuous support and for taking the time to give staff shoutouts. It is through your encouragement and recognition that we are motivated to give our best every day. Your acknowledgments not only boost staff morale but also serve as a reminder of the positive impact we are making. We are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful community, and we are committed to providing you with exceptional service and care. Please see below to give a shoutout to a Deer Park Jr./Sr. High School staff member.

We are blessed to have one of the best staffs to work with day in and day out at Deer Park Jr/Sr High School. We praise them everyday for all the amazing things they do for our kids and our community! We want to give you a chance to do the same! If you would like to give a shout out to any staff member, please fill out this form so we can celebrate them!

Deer Park Community Conversations in October

Dear Parents and Community Members,

We are excited to invite you to a special community conversation that will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our school. Your input and insights are invaluable as we embark on the journey of reviewing school data and revising our strategic plan for the next 3 to 5 years.

Our school has always been committed to providing the best possible education for our students, and this conversation is an opportunity for you to be an integral part of that process. We will share important data on student performance, school facilities, and community engagement, and we want to hear your thoughts, concerns, and aspirations for our school's future.

Together, we will brainstorm ideas, set priorities, and create a roadmap for the next few years. Your perspective as parents and community members is essential in ensuring that our school continues to thrive and provide the highest quality education.

We will be hosting three separate community conversations in October on the following dates: Monday, October 9th at 6:00pm, Wednesday, October 11th at 1:00pm, and Thursday, October 26th at 9:00am. Please RSVP by filling out the form found here - Community Conversation RSVP. All Community Conversations will take place in the PDC at the Holmes Building (8688 Donna Lane).

Your active participation will help us chart a course that reflects the values and aspirations of our entire school community. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our students and the future of our school.

Sincerely,

Jay Phillips
Superintendent
