Band Qualifies for OMEA State Marching Band Finals for 28th Consecutive Year

Marching Band

This past Saturday, the Deer Park Marching Wildcats performed at two band competitions in one day. The first competition was at Springfield Shawnee High School. The band competed in Class B. They finished third in their class, earned Best Color Guard and earned a superior rating qualifying them for the Ohio Music Education Association State Marching Band Finals for a 28th consecutive year (there were no finals hosted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic)!

Before the band even knew the results for the first competition, they loaded their gear, boarded the buses and traveled to Turpin High School for the second competition. The Marching Wildcats again placed third in Class B, won best overall Color Guard and added their second superior rating of the day, qualifying them for state for a second time in the same afternoon! The band also earned a Superior Rating in every category, a feat only accomplished a few times in Deer Park history.

The Deer Park Color Guard swept the season, earning best overall in each competition, a first in program history.

The band will perform in the OMEA State Finals at the University of Dayton on Oct. 31 at 3:15 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the gate. More information about the event can be found at OMEASMBF.org.

Congratulations to the Deer Park Band, director Patrick Bauer, and each of his directors on this tremendous accomplishment!
