Amity Elementary

What's New?

From the Desk of Mr. Drouhard

Dear Amity Families,

For those of you that are new to Amity Elementary, I’m Josh Drouhard, the principal at Amity. I am starting my third year as the building principal at Amity after serving seven years as an assistant principal in Lakota. I was a junior high social studies teacher prior to becoming an administrator.

My wife and I are also the parents of elementary school children. We have daughters in 2nd and 1st grade, and a son that is going into preschool… if we can get him in the door! Ha. I truly know how busy your lives are in balancing your jobs with your family activities at night!

If you need anything this year, please don’t hesitate to reach out! As we see each other in the carpool line, be sure to say hello and catch me up on how things are going!

I am looking forward to a great year and can’t wait to get our students back into the building on Tuesday morning!

Take Care,
Josh

Meet and Greet- Monday August 16th from 4-6 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you and our students at our Meet and Greet on Monday, August 16th from 4-6 p.m. This is a great time to get your student into the building to see their classroom, drop off their supplies, and say hello to their teacher this year. We know that the first day can make our students a little nervous, and we hope this calms some of those nerves so that they know where to go and which smiling face to look for!

COVID Protocol Updates for 2021-2022

I just wanted to briefly update you on the COVID protocols for the 2021-2022 school year.

Masking:

  • Masking requirements were shared in an email from Jay Phillips on August 10th. Please read this release.
  • If you are worried about your student following your request to wear a mask while at Amity, please feel free to reach out to your homeroom teacher for support.

Visitors:

  • We are limiting our visitors to Amity this year to those that are invited in for educational purposes. Please plan to say goodbye to your student at the door. We will have plenty of staff available to help get them to their classroom.

Wellness Check:

  • We ask you to once again complete a wellness check of your child prior to sending them to school each day. We will not take temperatures at the door this year, but will have greeters there to check in on our students as they enter the building.

Water Bottles:

  • Please send your child in with a filled water bottle daily. Our water fountain spigots will once again be covered this year. Water bottle filling stations will be available, and are attached to our water fountains.

Classrooms:

  • Air filtration units have been added to each classroom at Amity.
  • Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the school.
  • Teachers will teach and emphasize the importance of hand washing and respiratory etiquette when coughing or sneezing.
  • Students will hand sanitize prior to, and after, using shared materials.
  • Students may be mixed amongst grade level classrooms for academic purposes such as band/chorus or intervention groups.

Cafeteria:

  • We will have assigned seats should the need arise for contact tracing.
  • Students eating breakfast in the morning will be assigned tables based upon their grade level.
