Deer Park Seating Plans for Fall Sports
Dear Deer Park Families,
On Wednesday, August 19th, the Ohio Department of Health released an Order that set forth many requirements for youth, collegiate, amateur, club and professional sports. As part of the Order, the Ohio Department of Health has set the spectator capacity for athletic competitions at 15% of the maximum venue capacity.
Harry Yeaggy Family Stadium at Deer Park High School has a total capacity of 1,672 spectators. Working within the framework of the Order, our total stadium capacity for outdoor fall football and soccer games will be set at 250 spectators. The home section has a total capacity of 154 spectators and the visitor section has a total capacity of 96 spectators. The Deer Park Jr/Sr High School gymnasium has a total capacity of 502 spectators and the maximum capacity at 15% will be 75 spectators.
With the very small capacity at both venues, ticket priority will be given to close family members of our athletes and Marching Wildcats. For varsity football games, ticket priority will be in this order; the football team, the cheerleaders, and then the Marching Wildcats. This year there are 40 members of the Deer Park football team, there are 15 cheerleaders, and there are 85 Marching Wildcats.
For each home football game, the Deer Park varsity football team will be allotted 80 tickets (2 per family), the Deer Park cheerleading squad will be allotted 30 tickets (2 per family), and the Deer Park Marching Wildcats will be allotted 44 tickets total. Obviously, with only 44 tickets allotted to the Deer Park Marching Wildcats, not every Marching Wildcat parent will be able to see their child perform at each Deer Park football game. I will not dictate how tickets will be dispersed to the Marching Wildcat parents, but my recommendation would be to rotate tickets to different parents for each game. For the junior varsity home football games, each player’s family will be allotted 4 tickets, for home soccer games each player’s family will be allotted 4 tickets, and for home volleyball games each players family will be allotted 2 tickets. Please remember that these tickets are for immediate and close family only. No child under 18 will be admitted without an adult.
While this situation isn’t ideal and I know all parents, family members, and friends want to see their loved ones perform, unfortunately the conditions of this fall sports season will not permit that to happen. We will be working to live stream as many fall events as possible through Deer Park School’s YouTube channel so that all family and friends will be able to view the games and half time performances in real time.
I also want to stress that it is vitally important that we follow all rules and requirements set forth by the Ohio Department of Health or we could jeopardize the opportunity being given to us to be able to participate in fall athletics as well as marching band. All spectators will be REQUIRED to wear a mask when visiting Deer Park facilities and all spectators will also be REQUIRED to social distance 6’ or greater from others outside of your immediately family and/or who don’t reside in the same home.
I want to thank all of our families for your continued support and understanding as we navigate these uncharted waters. More details regarding when and how tickets can be purchased by families of our athletes and our Marching Wildcats will be sent out by our athletic director and our band director.
Sincerely,
Jay Phillips Superintendent
