Feature Grade: 6th Grade

The sixth graders have been reading about Martin Luther King, Jr and discussing how one person helped to change the world. The students wrote how people are not always treated fairly today and how they can make a difference at Amity and in their community. It only takes one person to begin a change!

STEAM Night Correction

STEAM Night will be held on Thursday, May 7th from 5:30-7:00. Our 1st graders will be performing that night. Please disregard the January date listed on the printed Deer Park calendar which was sent home at the beginning of the school year.

Lunch Calendar Correction

The lunch calendar sent home includes a pair of inaccuracies for the month of February. The calendar says there are half days on the 7th and 13th, which are not correct. They are full days of school.

The coney menu on Feb. 7 is correct.
The menu on Thursday, Feb. 13 is:
Big Daddy Pizza
Romaine Salad
Carrots with dip
Assorted fruit

The menu is online for more nutritional details. Please contact the Board Office with any questions.

Late Start/Snow Day Procedures

With the weather getting colder and colder each week, we wanted to take a moment to inform parents that the Deer Park website includes a full list of procedures for our snow day/weather delay decisions. You can read the full details by clicking the link below. The following is information concerning how the delayed opening will
be implemented:

  • Once the decision has been made to close schools or delay the opening, the Superintendent will activate our Call-Command Communication System, update via Facebook and Twitter (@DeerParkSchools and @DeerParkSuper), our district website, send out an email, and contact local television stations. It is strongly suggested that parents subscribe to the text/email notification systems now offered by the major Cincinnati news stations in order to receive school closing information as soon as it is entered into the system.
  • All parents will receive an automated phone call indicating that school has either been cancelled or will open using a delayed start.
  • Under a delayed start, all schools will open for operations exactly two hours later than their normal schedule. Students that walk to school, drive, or receive rides to school should plan on arriving two hours later unless directed otherwise for special programs.
  • Under a delayed start, all schools will offer its regularly planned lunch.
  • Under a delayed start, all schools will dismiss at the usual time.
  • Under a delayed start, there will be no morning programs, including breakfast.
