2nd Quarter Midterms Already!

It's hard for me to believe, but we are already at (and even a little past!) the midterm point of the 2nd quarter.  There are five weeks left in the quarter, but with Thanksgiving break and exam week being the week of December 16th (details to be released next week), there are only about three full weeks remaining.  Please simply take a few minutes to check through Schoology for your student's grades and help them set a plan for any missing assignments they may be able to still turn in.  Please also never hesitate to contact teachers, counselors, or administrators with any questions.  Thank you for your continued support and teamwork!

-Shane Hartley, Principal of Deer Park Jr/Sr High School

What's New?

Fall Play

This coming Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:00 p.m., Deer Park Jr/Sr High School will presenting the fall play.  This year's play is You Can't Take it With You, and tickets are available for purchase before showtime in Crawford Auditorium at the Jr/Sr High School.

This play has been one of the most popular high school plays since it's publication! The Sycamore family seem mad at first glance - the grandfather spends his days going to college commencements instead of working, the father creates fireworks in the basement, and the mother is a failed playwright. The granddaughter, Alice, falls in love with Tony Kirby, who is the son of a Wallstreet tycoon and vice-president of his father's company.  After a quick engagement, the two plan a dinner party for their families to meet and chaos ensues.  We hope you can make it!

Terrace Metrics Surveys

On Monday, December 2nd, 11th graders will take part in the next round for our Terrace Metrics Resiliency Surveys.  Any 9th or 12th grader whose surveys were cut short last time will also be able to retake it.  For more information, please click here.

High School Choir Winter Concert Update

We want to make you aware that there was an error in the District Calendar for the date of the High School Choir Winter Concert.  The concert is NOT on December 7th.  The concert IS Monday, December 9th at 7:00 p.m. at Crawford Auditorium.

Miami University Parenting/Youth Study

Miami University is offering the opportunity to participate in a research study for parents and youth well-being.  This survey requires little time, can be conducted at the parents' convenience, and participants will be compensated for their participation.  For more information, please click here.

Vaping/E-Cigarettes Info Session

Beckett Springs is hosting a free seminar on December 10th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Mercy Health Plex in Fairfield (3050 Mack Rd, 45014) for anyone interested in understanding more about vaping/e-cigarettes.

As we know from watching recent news stories, vaping has led to numerous health issues, including death, for many Americans, and we'd like to provide any extra resources for parents that we can.  To register for the event, please contact KristinaErtel@spsh.com.

Pride Survey Information: As we continue our drug prevention efforts at Deer Park Jr/Sr High, we ask for your support as we administer the PreventionFIRST! Student Survey. This is an anonymous student survey about alcohol use, drug use, and other health behaviors.  The survey information will assist us in assessing our successes or failures in educating students of the health and safety value of not using alcohol and drugs. The PreventionFIRST! Student Survey is a thoroughly researched group of questions that can give us valuable insight into many positive and negative student health behaviors. The survey is an anonymous survey and students are not required to participate, it is voluntary on the part of each student.

If you prefer that your child not participate please inform our office, in writing, before Nov. 15th as the survey will be administered the week of Nov. 25th .

A copy of the survey is available in the main office if you would like to review its content.  A summary of the information gathered will be shared with parents when results are obtained. Thank you for supporting our efforts to help students understand that alcohol and drug use can be harmful to their health and safety.

Cap and Gown Information for the Class of 2020: Graduation packets were sent home with students in October. Students can obtain extra copies in the CCR office or they can be accessed electronically using this link.  Please remember that costs go up on December 6th, so order soon!  Please contact Graduate Services (513-272-5890) or Ms. Madden (513-936-4684) with any questions.
