I just want to thank everyone for coming out to all the special events we hosted this week. It was great seeing everyone at our Harvest Night, Awards Ceremony and also Halloween parade. Our students enjoyed these events and having you there made it that much more special. Your support for our students and teachers was appreciated!
Thank you! Josh
Staff Spotlight: Security Officer Jim Wergers
This week, Amity student Lilee came into the front office upset that she had lost her special pin at recess. When asked what happened, she said that she had pinned it to a leaf and accidentally left it under a tree. The staff told her we would let her know if someone turned it in. Of course, she was disappointed to have lost something so special.
When Sergeant Jim caught wind of the case of the missing pin, he jumped into action! He and Lilee went out to the playground, scoured the scene, and soon found the missing treasure.
When it comes to our Amity students, no job is too big or too small for Sergeant Jim. He's always willing to lend a helping hand, and he leaves no case unsolved.
This picture tells his story!
Soccer Champs!
Last weekend, a pair of Deer Park Youth Soccer teams brought some hardware back to The Park! The DPYS 12U girls squad and 10U boys team each captured Cincinnati Hills SAY Soccer (CHSS) tournament championships!
The future is bright for Wildcat soccer. Great work from both teams!
2nd and 5th Grade Inview Testing
Our 2nd and 5th graders will be taking the Inview Test. The 2nd Grade will be taking the test on Wednesday November 6th and the 5th Grade will be taking the test on Monday, November 4th. The Inview Test tests five areas (Sequences, Analogies, Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning- Words, Verbal Reasoning- Context) to help measure the student's cognitive ability. This is not a high stakes test, but we do we our students to do their best on this test so we get valid results.
Veterans Day Ceremony
On Monday, November 11 at 9 a.m., our second graders will continue their beloved tradition of a Veterans Day performance for our very special heroes. The event features a variety of poignant moments, such as an explanation of the Missing Man Table—which honors fallen, missing or imprisoned military service member—as well as the flag folding ceremony, and a rendition of the United States Armed Force Medley, during which all veterans stand during their respective verses.
The 2nd grade class prepares for the event by learning about all the branches of the military, as well as what it means to be a veteran. The veterans in attendance each introduces themselves before being presented with artwork from the students.
We invite everyone in the community to come out and be a part of this momentous and moving program!
