Enhancing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for English Learners
Webinar. This pre-application webinar offers professional learning to (1) improve literacy instruction for students identified as English learners, and (2) guide applicants in developing proposals for the Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant (CLSD). The webinar includes best practices to integrate English learners into a multi-tiered system of supports. All Ohio educators are welcome, regardless of whether they expect to apply for a Comprehensive Literacy State Development grant. Register by clicking on the preferred date below:

This session, the second in a series hosted by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, will help school and district leaders, school counselors, and language teaching faculty build their capacity to advocate for and implement new Seal of Biliteracy programs locally.
Maximizing the Results of Existing Ohio Seal of Biliteracy Programs

The final Ohio Seal of Biliteracy professional learning session hosted by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce will help district decision-makers, school counselors, and language educators maximize the results of their existing Ohio Seal of Biliteracy programs. Participants will consider best practices and lessons learned to ensure that their world language students and English learners have access to an Ohio Seal of Biliteracy if they wish to pursue one. Dual Language Learners in Preschool Classrooms
Wednesday, March 5, 12:00-1:00 p.m.
During this virtual presentation, Dr. Ji-Young Choi, Crane faculty affiliate and associate professor of Human Development and Family Science at The Ohio State University, will discuss the experiences and development of dual language learners in preschool classrooms, where English is the primary language of instruction and interaction is central to providing developmentally appropriate practices. Dr. Choi will highlight research that refutes deficit-based views on dual language development and education and discuss implications for early childhood programs and educators working with dual language learners.
Nominations for the Educator Standards Board: State Board of Education
The State Board of Education is accepting nominations for school district teachers to serve on the Ohio Educator Standards Board (ESB) from June 2025 through June 2027. ESB meetings are held virtually seven times a year. Nomination applications are open to elementary school teachers, middle school teachers, secondary school teachers, teachers in chartered nonpublic schools, and community school representatives. Teachers must submit a letter of support from their district superintendent to the State Board of Education. Click here for more information.
