Akron Public Schools teachers’ union, school board approve 3-year contract Akron Beacon Journal Akron Education Association members voted Tuesday night to accept the tentative agreement negotiated between the Akron Public Schools Board of Education and AEA, according to a news release. The school board voted to accept the agreement on Monday night, according to Akron Public Schools spokesman Mark Williamson. The contract ratification comes as the teachers’ union and school board narrowly averted a strike.

The Nordonia Hills City School District holds student and staff safety as its top priority. This includes more than our focus on preventing acts of violence. The district is committed to providing our students with the skills and tools they need to live healthy lives. One of the ways we do that is through a program called Youth to Youth. Nordonia Youth to Youth (Y2Y) is a youth-led prevention club at the High School, Middle School, and Lee Eaton that has existed as a club in the district since the early 1990s (formerly Nordonia Teen Institute). This club focuses on empowering students to abstain from alcohol, nicotine and other drugs and make healthy lifestyle choices with regard to their mental health, violence, and other risky behaviors.
ALERRT active shooter training taking place in Poland Youngstown ABC-33 The Poland Township Police Department is working in collaboration with the Poland Local School District and trustees on a major coordinated police training called ALERRT. ALERRT is a federally funded, nationally recognized active shooter training course out of Texas. It stands for Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training. ALERRT is a new approach to school shooter safety developed after the Robb Elementary School tragedy that happened in Uvalde, Texas last May.
