Teachers selected for Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching Two Ohio teachers are the most current awardees of the Presidential Awards in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). Congratulations to Krystina Pratt at New Albany Primary School in New Albany-Plain Local Schools and Stephanie Nowak at Fairfax Elementary in Mentor Exempted Village Schools.

Celebrate the Week of the Young Child This week, join the Department in celebrating the Week of the Young Child. The National Association for the Education of Young Children sponsors this celebration to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and recognizes the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

Deadline to update OEDS data extended to May 2 Schools, districts and other educational organizations that have not recently updated OEDS contact information should do so by May 2. Keeping OEDS information current ensures the education community receives important communications from the Department.

Video helps families find high-quality early learning programs It’s the Week of the Young Child and the perfect time to introduce parents and caregivers to the “How to Recognize High Quality Early Learning” video. Families can watch it to learn how to confidently select early learning programs to prepare Ohio’s youngest learners for kindergarten.

Seeking feedback from businesses on new industry-recognized credentials The Department is seeking feedback from businesses on new industry-recognized credentials recently submitted for consideration for the approved graduation list. The industry-recognized credential feedback survey requests feedback on recognition of the industry credentials and their use in the hiring process.

The Department regularly posts rules for public comment. Currently, the Department does not have any rules open for comment. Check the Department’s website as new rules may open for comment throughout the week.
