Teacher at Ohio School for the Deaf Named 2021 Ohio Teacher of the Year Ohio Department of Education State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria today surprised Ohio School for the Deaf teacher Anthony Coy-Gonzalez by naming him the 2021 Ohio Teacher of the Year. Coy-Gonzalez teaches upper elementary students at the school located in Columbus. DeMaria made an unannounced appearance during a video conference staff meeting to share the unexpected news with Coy-Gonzalez and several of his colleagues.

Akron classrooms go live for first day of virtual semester with dogs, pesky siblings and virtual lockers Akron Beacon Journal It didn’t seem to matter that Akron Public Schools middle school teacher Shauna McClain had just spent several minutes going over proper video conferencing etiquette... As a dog, he probably gets a free pass. His owner, eighth-grade Innes middle school student Siniya Lopane, somehow managed to keep an eye on her computer screen as Kush, a Pit Bull who is about as big as Siniya, lounged in her lap Wednesday morning for their first day of school. A few times, she had to angle her face away from his giant brown head.
Akron Public Schools Staggers Start To Virtual Learning Cleveland ideastream-NPR Akron Public Schools officially began online classes Wednesday, welcoming the district’s eighth, ninth, and 12th graders. Students from other grades will return throughout the week, with the youngest grades returning Monday. Superintendent David James said the district’s staggered start will allow for staff and students to do some orientation.
Conneaut schools welcome students back Ashtabula Star Beacon Students were back in Conneaut Area City Schools classrooms on Tuesday. Last week, teachers met with parents and students in one hour blocks, said Superintendent Lori Riley. Students Tuesday marked the first day of in-person classes. Conneaut High School, Conneaut Middle School and Gateway Elementary School started at two days a week in-person learning, with some students attending school on Tuesday and Wednesday, and others attending school on Thursday and Friday.
Fremont schools to feed children for free through December Fremont News Messenger Thanks to the Ohio Department of Agriculture, children in the Fremont City Schools district will continue to receive free meals whether or not they attend school in person. Superintendent Jon Detwiler said meals will continue through December as part of the agriculture department's program to feed children in Ohio, the same program that was in effect during the spring and summer. As in the spring and summer, the meals will be available for pickup for any child age 1-18 living in the school district, Detwiler told the News-Messenger.
