Fairfield schools superintendent: We will follow guidelines of state agencies Cincinnati Enquirer Plans are still evolving on what students and their families can expect when classes resume Aug. 19 in the Fairfield City School District. They will continue to evolve even as the district continues to release additional guidelines with more to come at the end of this week... Parents still have the option of either sending their children to the school or – semester by semester – participate in an online program. Details on that program are expected to be released soon.
What to know about e-schools, as pandemic prompts more traditional schools to offer online programs Cleveland Plain Dealer Uncertainty about the upcoming school year is drawing eyes to Ohio’s e-schools, which offered fully remote learning before the coronavirus pandemic abruptly forced in-person schools to create online options. At Ohio Connections Academy, an e-school founded in 2003, interest is up 30% year-over-year from last summer, Executive Director Marie Hanna said.

Mahoning County school districts getting state money to help with COVID-19 back-to-school transition Youngstown CBS-27 School districts across Mahoning County will be getting coronavirus relief aid to help them financially as they get ready for the upcoming year. The state’s Controlling Board approved $100 million for districts in Ohio. The amount of money given was based on enrollment, with additional money to support students with disabilities, students who are economically disadvantaged and transportation obligations. This money could be used for several things, including protective equipment, cleaning and sanitation, and remote learning.
Polaris Career Center enables seniors to finish programs despite pandemic, fall planning under way Cleveland Plain Dealer When the state shut down schools in March because of COVID-19, seniors at Polaris Career Center were left wondering how they would complete their programs. Many Polaris programs require a state minimum number of practical, hands-on hours, which means students need to be in their labs in person. Superintendent Bob Timmons said in a July 11 interview his objective, as well as that of his staff, immediately became providing students the ability to achieve their year-end goals. "We were fortunate to be able to bring a portion of our students back into the school, predominantly after the stay-at-home order was lifted (in mid-May), and our teachers specifically worked with those students that needed to finish their credential exams," Timmons explained.
