Ohio colleges, K-12 schools could receive $300 million total in additional federal money to deal with costs of reopening Cleveland Plain Dealer Ohio higher education institutions could receive $200 million in additional federal CARES Act money allocated by the state, with another $100 million going to K-12 institutions. If approved by the state’s controlling board, the new funds would go to costs associated with reopening in the fall and educating during the coronavirus pandemic. That could mean improving infrastructure and developing programs for remote learning or funding staff, testing or personal protective equipment.
Mask Mandate Extended To 12 Counties; DeWine Issues Guidance For Colleges, Universities Statehouse News Bureau The number of counties where masks are required in indoor business spaces and public places has gone up to 12, with one county falling off the initial list and five more being added. Masks will be required starting Friday at 6pm in Clermont, Wood, Lorain, Summit, Pickaway and Fairfield Counties. The mask mandate started Wednesday at 6pm in Hamilton, Butler, Montgomery, Franklin, Cuyahoga and Trumbull all appear to be red on the new map. Huron County dropped down to the orange, or level 2, so the mandate falls off as well.
Akron mayor pushes to make masks mandatory in city Cleveland Plain Dealer Within minutes of Gov. Mike DeWine announcing that face masks will be mandatory in Summit County due to widespread community spread of the coronavirus, Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan announced he has added his name to legislation that would require masks in the city... Exceptions and situations where masks would not be required include: Individuals while in a school or school district facilities, in which case that school’s regulations and Ohio Department of Education guidelines should be followed.
Steubenville City Schools putting in safety measures Steubenville FOX/NBC-9 New technology in the Steubenville Schools district will take the temperature of every student that walks into the buildings. Steubenville City Schools is working to install cameras at every school to ensure safety for students this fall... The thermal camera will beep when someone walks through with a high temperature, and the staff will be able to send that person home.
Lakewood City School District names Christine Foote as new Grant Elementary School Principal Cleveland Plain Dealer At its Monday (July 6) meeting, Lakewood City Schools Board of Education named the district’s Teaching and Learning Coordinator Christine Foote as the next Grant Elementary School Principal... Replacing Kait Turner, who is moving to a new position with the district, Foote said becoming a principal was always a personal goal. However, she didn’t want to leave Lakewood City Schools. That’s why she was very interested in the opening at Grant Elementary School.
