Feeding needy kids in Licking County remains high priority through summer Newark Advocate Even with school buildings closed for over two months due to the coronavirus pandemic, Licking County districts were able to effectively get food distributed to students and families who needed it. As summer fast approaches, plenty of food is still available for kids through various local agencies, including the Salvation Army, Licking County Job and Family Services, and the Licking County Library.

COTA turning bus into Wi-Fi hotspot in Forest Park on North Side Columbus Dispatch Wi-Fi access has expanded in one Columbus neighborhood. Through a partnership with the Central Ohio Transit Authority, Columbus City Schools and the North YMCA, a COTA bus with amplified Wi-Fi will be parked in the North YMCA lot Tuesdays through Thursdays for three weeks in June to provide a Wi-Fi hotspot to students in need, said Jeff Pullin, public information officer for COTA.
Beaver Local looks to the 2020-2021 school year East Liverpool Review The Beaver Local school district has begun working on what the 2020-21 school year will look like and the plan will include having enhanced online curriculum available should the coronavirus flare up in the fall. Speaking at this week’s school board meeting, Superintendent Eric Lowe said he, administrators and employee union representatives have been discussing options but the plan is unlikely to be completed until August.
Board of Education names Brian Hare as new Brooklyn High School principal Cleveland Plain Dealer The Brooklyn City Schools Board of Education last month promoted Brooklyn High School Assistant Principal Brian Hare to take over for outgoing principal Bill Wingler, who leaves the district for the same position at Strongsville High School... The naming of Hare as the new Brooklyn High School principal is paired with the recent appointment of Theodore Caleris as the next Brooklyn City Schools superintendent. What both hires have in common is a background with the district.
Shaker Heights School Gets New Principal Shaker Heights Patch Tiffany Joseph will be the next principal of Woodbury Elementary School. She will take over the role on July 1. The Shaker Heights Schools parsed through a pool of approximately 60 candidates for the principal position. The district then held interviews with stakeholders, staff, held a community survey and a community virtual town hall. Through the process, Joseph emerged as the top candidate.
Whitmer HS teacher creates unique way to end the school year with her students Toledo CBS-11 At the end of a school year, teachers usually thank their students and wish them a good summer in person. That wasn't possible because of schools moving to distance learning in March. One Whitmer High School teacher decided she still wanted to show how much she appreciated them this year. Sabrina Wilson is a special education teacher. She created 'nailed it' care packages to wrap up the school year.
Vantage student earns certification, scores in top 10 percent nationally Van Wert Times Bullentin Gage Smith (Paulding), a senior in the junior Network Systems class at Vantage Career Center, earned his Test Out Linux Pro Certification, which normally takes an entire school year to complete, but he achieved it in less than one semester and scored in the top 10 percent of all test takers for Linux Pro in the United States, including college students and industry professionals.
Southeast musicians selected for All-Ohio State Fair Band Kent Record Courier Although the All-Ohio State Fair Band will look very different this summer, 19 student musicians from Southeast High School have been selected for this prestigious instrumental ensemble. With the cancellation of the Ohio State Fair, the band will conduct virtual activities during the annual two-week summer event to keep the rich history and tradition of this band going during the summer of 2020.
