During the ordered school-building closure period, schools may continue to receive reimbursement for meals served by participating in the Seamless Summer Option (SSO) or the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Schools may operate as open, restricted open or targeted outreach sites. Refer to the map and map site key for available meal service in your area.

North Olmsted High School lights up stadium to honor Class of 2020: Photos Cleveland Plain Dealer North Olmsted High School on Monday (April 20) celebrated its Class of 2020 with a special stadium lighting event. North Olmsted City Schools Superintendent Michael E. Zalar said the successful affair, which attracted hundreds of participants, was due to the hard work of North Olmsted High School Athletic Director Mike Ptacek and Principal Zach Weagley.

Reading High School's class of 2020 thanks favorite teachers Cincinnati CBS-12 Virtually everything education is online right now and will be for the remainder of the school year in Ohio. That means most annual events are being done very differently, if at all. At Reading High School, the annual Influential Teacher Awards are still happening; there’s just no crowd there to cheer them on. Each year, the high school recognizes its top 10 academic students, who in turn give a speech about the teacher that most influenced them during their time at Reading... So instead of the big crowds and family, one at a time, each student arrives at school and gives a quick speech to their teacher.
City school district to purchase new bus East Liverpool Review ... According to district Superintendent Jonathan Ludwig, the board also unanimously accepted a $70,678 grant from the Ohio Department of Education, which will be directed to offset the majority of the purchase of a new school bus. The district’s share will be the remaining $12,000.
Struthers extends open enrollment deadline, reduces some open programming Youngstown CBS-27 The Struthers City School District extended the open enrollment application deadline for the 2020-21 school year. Parents now have until August to enroll their kids (no particular date in August was announced). Applications can found on the district’s website. Any student living in the State of Ohio and entering grades K through 9, is eligible. In order to be considered for open enrollment, applications must be completed in its entirety, and an application must be completed for each student.

Secretary DeVos Makes Available Over $13 Billion in Emergency Coronavirus Relief to Support Continued Education for K-12 Students U.S. Department of Education U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced today that more than $13.2 billion in emergency relief funds are now available to state and local education agencies to support continued learning for K-12 students whose educations have been disrupted by the coronavirus. This funding is allocated by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, which was signed by President Donald J. Trump less than a month ago. Education leaders will have the flexibility to use funds from the Elementary and Secondary School Education Relief Fund (ESSER Fund) for immediate needs, such as tools and resources for distance education, ensuring student health and safety, and developing and implementing plans for the next school year.
