New video message from Paolo DeMaria and more informational updates from the Ohio Department of Education

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Paolo DeMaria today released a new video message for Ohio’s education community in which he offers his view of where education in Ohio is going in light of the governor’s order to keep school buildings closed for the remainder of the school year.

The Department also issued a statement advising against in-person graduation and end-of-year recognition ceremonies to ensure the safety and health of students and communities. The full statement is available here.

Additionally, new information is available about how schools and service providers might continue to reach students by way of telehealth options. Increased flexibility is available to assist providers in offering continuation of services to students while maintaining safe social distances.

Finally, updated information about changes to certain state tests has become available. As such, the Department has posted the latest information on its coronavirus webpage devoted to state testing.

Thank you for continuing to serve Ohio’s students and your communities!
