CSU receives $590,000 grant to expand College Credit Plus Cleveland Jewish News Cleveland State University has received a $590,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Education to credential high school teachers for College Credit Plus, an educational initiative which allows Ohio students to take college courses while still in high school, according to a news release. The grant will create a college teacher credentialing program at CSU, allowing high school teachers from across the region to take free graduate courses in their discipline and earn certification as CCP teachers, the release said.

Politics are getting some 'Girl Power' this weekend at Nagel Middle School Cincinnati ABC-9 Middle school girls from around the Tri-State who are interested in politics are invited to an event over the weekend at Nagel Middle School called "Girl Power Politics." Anna MacLennan, an Anderson High School junior and member of the Hamilton County Commission of Women and Girls, launched the program. She said the program is a non-partisan event and aims to educate more middle school girls on politics and how they can get involved on a local and national level.
Students portray city’s history Delaware Gazette Smith Elementary School students got a local history lesson in an unusual way Wednesday as they watched third graders present a musical they created called “A History of Delaware.” The musical was made possible through a grant from the Smith Arts Council and the Ohio Arts Council, which allowed the school to bring in frequent collaborators Sheela Das, artistic director of Creative Concepts in Music, and Candace Mazur-Darman, who served as the dramatic director for the play.
Springfield High School students collect toys for sick children Toledo ABC-13 Springfield High School students are doing what they can to make the season brighter for sick children. Since 2015, they've collected thousands of toys for ProMedica Children's Hospital. One of those toys even made its way to the hands of a child of one of the teachers at the school, and they're hoping to make a bigger impact this year. They have entered a contest called My Giving Story, which could win them $10,000, which they hope to use to purchase even more toys for sick children.

Reconsidering lessons and resources to promote body positivity Education Dive Teaching kindness is a lesson educators can focus on in the classroom by tapping into social-emotional learning (SEL) and skill building. Of the five competencies the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) identifies for SEL skills, one, social awareness, addresses the ability to understand someone else’s point of view and have empathy for them, as well. Educators can hold student activities that help promote positivity and understanding in the classroom, which may also have an impact on bullying.
