Participants will better understand what a monitoring visit entails and how to assure full compliance with the grant requirements. This will include an overview of what documents need to be on file and what constitutes a Corrective Action Plan (CAP). Attendees will also receive a tour of the ECE website and an overview of the resources available.
Early Childhood Education Roundtable: Share your current practices, struggles, and solutions related to the Early Childhood Education Grants with other administrators. Café conversation style set-up will allow for focused discussion on multiple topics. Participants will drive this session!
The Early Learning Assessment – What do Administrators Need to Know?: This short ELA information session will focus on the role of the administrator. Although at the administrative level, it’s critical to provide some essential understanding of the foundations of the assessment. The training will include an overview of the ELA including: discussion of formative and observational assessment, structure of the assessment, assessed domains, scheduling and peer support. There will also be a section on supporting teachers through the assessment and data entry process.
Assessment – It’s Not a Bad Word: Birth to age 5 is a very productive time in a child’s learning and the right early learning experiences can do much to prepare a child for school, including assessment. This session will focus on the foundations and principles of early childhood observation and assessment as it relates to Ohio's Early Childhood Comprehensive Assessment System. Ohio's Early Childhood Comprehensive Assessment System allows for showing growth over time and is designed to support all children's development and academic achievement.
Step Up To Quality: This session will discuss current policy and rule updates for ODE licensed programs participating or planning to participate in Step Up To Quality.
Preschool and School Age Licensing Updates: This session will discuss current policy and rule updates for Preschool and School Age Childcare programs licensed by ODE.
Ohio Child Licensing and Quality System: This session will introduce features and functionality of the new data system used for Preschool/SACC licensing and SUTQ for programs licensed by ODE.
Inter-Agency Collaboration for Successful Transitions: This session will highlight Preschool Special Education, Early Intervention, Head Start, and Local Education Agency roles and responsibilities in transitions and inter-agency agreements. An overview of the guidance material being developed by the Inter-Agency Transition Work Group will be presented. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide input on the draft document.
Itinerant Services and the IEP: Do you wonder exactly what is meant by itinerant services? Or how these services would be represented on an IEP? This session will provide an opportunity to discuss the definition of itinerant services and how these services could be provided in preschool settings. In addition, participants will learn how to document itinerant services on the IEP. Questions, concerns, and input from participants regarding the use of the itinerant model are welcome!
Fiscal Efficiency and Preschool Special Education Program Models: After a brief review of the funding sources available to support preschool special education, this session will provide examples of program models and funding structures that include a full continuum of service delivery options and are fiscally efficient. Participants will have opportunities to share challenges and solutions related to funding preschool special education services.
Preschool Special Education Round Tables: Share your current practices, struggles, and solutions related to providing preschool special education services with other administrators. Café conversation style set-up will allow for focused discussion on multiple topics. Participants will drive this session!
