information regarding the new center for sensory disabilities will be
distributed in the future.
ODE-OEC is pleased
to announce the recipients of the Innovative
Strategies for Improving College and Career Readiness for Students with
Disabilities grant.
An impressive total of
90 grant applications were submitted. One grantee was selected from each of the
16 State Support Team regions. OEC also designated funds to
support the four grant proposals submitted by large urban districts. Grant
proposals reflected a strong commitment to improve secondary transition
services and post school outcomes not only for students with disabilities, but
for ALL students. OEC thanks all applicants for their dedication to making a
difference!
Congratulations
to the agencies and districts
who received the grant.
Across
Ohio and the nation, parents and educators are learning about intervener
services and how they can be used to increase access and learning opportunities
for students with combined vision and hearing loss. In an effort to more
accurately identify students who might need intervener services, the Ohio
Center for Deafblind Education (OCDBE) is offering online professional
development for school psychologists, special education directors and speech
language pathologists.
The Open Hands Open Access (OHOA) Intervener
Learning Modules are designed to increase awareness, knowledge and skills
related to intervener services. Participants will watch selected videos and
slide shows from the modules and then participate in an online discussion via
Adobe Connect with Bernadette Van Den Tillaart, an internationally known
specialist on deafblindness who participated in the development of the OHOA
modules. For questions or to register, please contact Leanne Parnell at lparnell@ohiodeafblind.org.
