Hamilton County (Tuesday, October 13, 2026) – The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 will be closed this weekend for beam installation as part of the Linn Street Bridge Replacement and Reconstruction project, weather permitting.

On Friday, October 16, I-75 South will be closed at the Freeman Avenue exit (Exit 1F) beginning at 11 p.m. for contractors to complete the installation of girders for the new Linn Street overpass bridge between W. Eighth and W. Court streets.

The closure of southbound I-75, which will extend to the Ninth Street/Eighth Street Viaduct entrance ramp, will be in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, October 19. Along with the interstate closure, the entrance to I-75 South from the Western Hills Viaduct will be closed.

Friday, October 16:

  • The entrance ramp from the Western Hills Viaduct to I-75 South will be closed at 9 p.m.
  • Additional lane restrictions on I-75 South, from just north of the Norwood Lateral to the Freeman Avenue exit, will go into effect after the entrance ramps are closed.
  • Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, I-75 South will be closed at the Freeman Avenue (Exit 1F) exit ramp, with access maintained to Freeman Avenue.
  • The closures will remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday, October 19.
  • Motorists will be able to re-enter I-75 South at the Ninth Street/Eighth Street Viaduct entrance ramp.
  • Thru and heavy truck traffic should detour by way of S.R. 562/Norwood Lateral and I-71 South to help mitigate congestion and avoid additional delays.
  • Local traffic may detour by way of Freeman Avenue, Mehring Way, Elm Street and Third Street to re-enter I-75/71 South.
  • In the event the work is cancelled due to weather or other unanticipated events, it will be postponed to the weekend of November 6-9.

Project At A Glance

The Linn Street Reconstruction Project, which is part of the broader Brent Spence Bridge Corridor and the improvements to the Ohio Phases 1 and 2 segments, includes replacing and reconstructing the bridge between W. 8th and W. Court streets and reconfiguring it to two, 10-foot driving lanes, with bike lanes and sidewalks on each side. The project will also include some minor reconfiguring of W. Court Street and Winchell Avenue, as well as replacement of the pedestrian bridge over Winchell.

Great Lakes Construction Company was awarded a contract in the amount of $46.7 million to undertake the Linn Street project, and while Linn Street is anticipated to be reopened to traffic in the fall of 2027, all work is scheduled to be completed in late spring of 2029.
