Clough Pike/Newtown Road Project Update
Southbound Newtown Road to be closed for 60 days beginning next week
Hamilton County (Monday, August 17, 2026) – An intersection improvement project at the intersection of Clough Pike and Newtown Road is moving into its next phase of construction, and a portion of Newtown Road will be closed this month.
On Monday, August 24, Newtown Road will be closed in the southbound direction between Mercers Point Drive and Clough Pike. The closure will be in effect for up to 60 days, and while it is closed, southbound traffic on will be detoured by way of Bartels Road. Northbound traffic on Newtown Road will be shifted to the west and maintained in one lane.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are widening Clough Pike at Newtown Road by constructing east and westbound left-turn lanes at the intersection. The project also includes constructing a sidewalk on the south side of Clough Pike, between Copperleaf Lane and Newtown Road.
Throughout most construction, traffic on Clough Pike will be maintained in a minimum of one lane with the use of flaggers during daytime business hours; at all other times, traffic will be maintained in one lane in each direction.
The Prus Construction Company was awarded a contract in the amount of $1.59 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in late November.
