Hamilton County (Monday, April 13, 2026) – The next round of bridge demolition for the Linn Street Bridge Replacement and Reconstruction project will take place this weekend, requiring a closure of I-75 South.

On Friday, April 17, I-75 South will be closed at the Freeman Avenue exit (Exit 1F) beginning at 11 p.m. for contractors to complete demolition of the overpass on Linn Street, which is closed between W. 8th and W. Court streets.

The closure of southbound I-75, which will extend to the 9th Street/8th Street Viaduct entrance ramp, will be in effect until 5 a.m. Monday, April 20. Along with the interstate closure, the entrances to I-75 South from the Western Hills Viaduct and Western Avenue will be closed.

What To Expect

All lanes of I-75 South will be closed at the Freeman Avenue exit, and thru traffic will be detoured by way of S.R. 562/Norwood Lateral to I-71 South.

Local traffic will be maintained for motorists traveling between the Norwood Lateral and the Freeman Avenue exit; however, there will be no signed detours via local streets.

Friday, April 17:

  • The entrance ramp from Western Avenue will be closed at 9 p.m. This will be a permanent closure.
  • The entrance ramp from the Western Hills Viaduct to I-75 South will be closed at 9 p.m.
  • Additional lane restrictions between the Norwood Lateral and Freeman Avenue will go into effect after the entrance ramps are closed.
  • The contraflow lane, between S.R. 126 and S.R. 562, will be closed at approximately 9:30 p.m.
  • Beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, I-75 South will be closed at the Freeman Avenue (Exit 1F) exit ramp, with access maintained to Freeman Avenue.
  • The closures will remain in place until 5 a.m. Monday, April 20.
  • Motorists will be able to re-enter I-75 South at the 9th Street/8th Street Viaduct entrance ramp.
  • Thru and heavy truck traffic should detour by way of S.R. 562/Norwood Lateral and I-71 South to help mitigate congestion and avoid additional delays.

Project At A Glance

The Linn Street Reconstruction Project, which is part of the broader Brent Spence Bridge Corridor and the improvements to the Ohio Phases 1 and 2 segments, includes replacing and reconstructing the bridge between W. 8th and W. Court streets and reconfiguring it to two, 10-foot driving lanes, with bike lanes and sidewalks on each side. The project will also include some minor reconfiguring of W. Court Street and Winchell Avenue, as well as replacement of the pedestrian bridge over Winchell.

Great Lakes Construction Company was awarded a contract in the amount of $46.7 million to undertake the Linn Street project, and while Linn Street is anticipated to be reopened to traffic in the fall of 2027, all work is scheduled to be completed in late spring of 2029.
