S.R. 730 Pedestrian Improvement Set for Implementation Tomorrow
Clinton County (Tuesday, December 16, 2025) - Completion and implementation of a new pedestrian safety feature on state Route 730 in Clinton County will require short-term lane closures on the route tomorrow.
On Wednesday, December 17, crews from ODOT District 8's Traffic Operations Department will be installing Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs) on S.R. 730 at Linkhart Road, approximately 2.5 miles south of Wilmington. RRFBs are pedestrian warning signs that, when activated, flash with high frequency to provide a high-visibility, strobe-like warning to drivers when pedestrians use a crosswalk.
Used in combination with pedestrian, school and trail crossing warning signs, the RRFBs improve safety at uncontrolled, marked crosswalks. Recently, pavement markings were installed on S.R. 730 at the intersection adjacent to the World Equestrian Center to provide a dedicated crosswalk at the facility.
Beginning at 9 a.m. tomorrow and continuing until approximately 1 p.m., lane closures will be in effect at the intersection, with traffic maintained by crews from ODOT's Clinton County Highway Maintenance Facility.
Along with exercising additional caution through the work zone tomorrow, motorists are reminded to pay heed to the new feature and the potential for the flashing beacons to be activated and pedestrians in the crosswalk.
