State Route 257 closed for bridge repairs over Ottawa Creek

The State Route 257 bridge over Ottawa Creek, between Taway Road and Smokey Road, is closed until further notice. During a routine inspection, District 6 bridge inspectors noted additional deterioration on areas of the bridge that had previously been identified for repair. Inspectors made the decision to close the road out of an abundance of caution until repairs can be performed.

A project to make repairs to the bridge and several others around central Ohio was already in development and the contract has been sold. A detailed schedule for repairs has not yet been determined, however District 6 staff will be coordinating with the contractor to prioritize this location for repairs to minimize the closure duration. We will share additional information as it becomes available.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured via SR 37 to SR 203 to SR 47 or reverse.
