UPCOMING PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE FOR THE U.S. 23/COOVER ROAD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENT STUDY

DELAWARE - The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 6 invites the public to a meeting regarding a proposed project that will make travel easier and safer around the U.S. 23 and Coover Road intersection in Delaware County.

The meeting will be held as an open-house on Thursday, June 26th, 2025, from 5-7 p.m., at the Buckeye Valley High School Cafeteria, 901 Coover Road, Delaware.

ODOT recently completed the Route 23 Connect Study, which evaluated enhancements along the U.S. 23 corridor that would improve safety and traffic flow between I-270 and the Village of Waldo. The Study identified the intersection of U.S. 23 and Coover Road as a high priority for safety improvements, as thirty crashes occurred at this intersection between 2021 and 2023. This intersection is also listed on the High Injury Network Map within the City of Delaware’s Safe Streets Plan.

ODOT is now conducting a Feasibility Study on the U.S. 23 and Coover Road intersection to evaluate various potential solutions (alternatives). The purpose of the study is to identify a recommended alternative that will increase safety at the intersection while improving traffic flow along the U.S. 23 corridor. See the project website link below for additional information.

Steve Fellenger, the ODOT Project Manager for this study, is interested in feedback from the public. “We want to move forward with improvements at this intersection as quickly as possible and need the public’s input to ensure that we’re constructing a viable solution for travelers and the surrounding area.”

The public is asked to attend this open-house meeting, which will provide an opportunity to review and provide feedback regarding this study. Comments may be submitted at the meeting, on the project website provided below, or via the contact information provided below. Comments regarding this study are welcome at any time, but those received by July 28, 2025, will be formally documented.

Individuals who require a reasonable accommodation to participate in this meeting should contact ODOT at the number below, prior to June 12. Public participation in this project is solicited without regard to race, color, sex, age, national origin or disability.
