Bridge Rehab Project Set To Begin On S.R. 72

Closure will go into effect June 2

Greene County (Wednesday, April 30, 2025) – Preliminary work for a bridge replacement project on state Route 72 in Greene County is getting under way this month, with construction and a full closure of the route on tap to start in June.

Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will be replacing the bridge over Caesar Creek, between Adams Street and S. Charleston Road in the village of Jamestown, and during the month of May, crews will be working along the shoulders of the route to clear and set up the construction site.

Although there should be little to no impact to traffic during the first phase of work, the route will be subject to a 120-day closure during the summer months.

On Monday, June 2, S.R. 72 will be closed, and the closure will be in effect through September 30. While the route is closed, traffic will be detoured by way of Old U.S. 35 and U.S. 35.

The Eagle Bridge Company was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $2.47 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in early fall.
