MED SR 162 & Ryan Rd Intersection Changes

Convert to all-way stop controlled intersection.

MEDINA COUNTY (Friday, March 7, 2025)

Beginning Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the intersection of State Route 162 and Ryan Road will be converted to an all-way stop intersection, meaning all approaches to the intersection will be required to stop. Currently, this intersection operates as a two-way stop requiring only traffic along Ryan Rd. to stop before crossing SR 162.

This change comes following a review of crash data from January 2019 to December 2023 which reported a total of 23 crashes during this four-year period.

Despite previous safety countermeasures including “cross traffic does not stop” signs, dual stop signs, and LED stop signs, angle crashes remain a significant issue at the intersection, primarily due to failure to yield. However, no crashes were caused by drivers running stop signs.

Motorists will be alerted to upcoming changes starting Tuesday, March 11, through posted signage along SR 162 and Ryan Rd.
