Clermont County (Tuesday, February 25, 2025) – As part of a bridge and retaining wall project on multiple routes in Clermont and Hamilton counties, construction is set to begin on state Route 749, and the route will be closed for approximately 145 days.
On Monday, March 10, contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation will close S.R. 749 between Cole and Wagner roads in Clermont County to extend the cast-in-place retaining wall and reinforce the slope.
The closure will be in effect through August 1, and while the route is closed, heavy truck and thru-traffic motorists will be detoured by way of S.R. 132 and U.S. 52. Local motorists may also use Wagner and Cole roads.
In addition to this location, crews will be repairing bridge wingwalls and correcting retaining walls at structures on S.R. 126/Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway at the eastbound exit ramp to U.S. 42 and on I-71 North, between the bridge over Broadway Street and the Second Street on-ramp to I-71.
The Sunesis Construction Company was awarded a contract in the amount of approximately $1.04 million to complete the project, and all work associated with the various projects is scheduled to be completed in August 2025.
